The Story of Building Hopes

Before Joseph Deese passed away in October 2015 from brain cancer, he started “The Building Hopes Foundation” with his family. Joseph was filled with a spirit of love, humility, Kindness, and faith in God that was beyond his years. Each time Joseph, age twelve, had brain surgery- and it’s been three times – the first thing he wanted to do afterward was build legos. Building legos helped him in so many ways and he wants to share that experience with kids battling cancer.

Through this foundation, joseph hopes to inspire children and their families across the nation to host lego drives to provide Legos to kids in inpatient units and outpatient clinics at their local hospital. Building Hopes aims to feature a ‘Hope Builder of the Month’ highlighting the efforts of children who collect legos to build up their hopes.

In Joseph’s words, “You can build your hopes up in jesus”.

How You Can Help Build Hope

  • Drop a set of LEGOS off at a local hospital.
  • Make a donation that will go to purchase a LEGO set.
  • Host a LEGO drive in your community and deliver the LEGOS to children.
  • Spend time praying for children that are battling life-threatening illnesses and that they would find HOPE one brick at a time.
  • Write a special note or letter of hope to be delivered with the Legos.
